It is always a good practice to turn off this switch when not tufting. This prevents accidental misfires, which can be harmful.

Grip the swivel handle with one hand, holding the rear grip of the gun with the other.
-
Ensure you are holding the swivel handle UNDER your threaded yarn, or you will run into trouble.

Press the needle into the fabric slowly but firmly. The goal is to create a gap in the weave by pulling it apart, not by tearing it.
-
The foot should be pressed firmly against the tufting fabric. Likely more firmly than you'd think!
-
-
-
The gun will pull itself in the direction the foot is facing while tufting. The operator should not “push” the gun in any direction, or the machine will fail.
-
The gun will skip / jump if not pressed into fabric firmly enough. As fabric loosens, you may need to press more firmly over time, or readjust the fabric on the frame.
-
-
-
The trigger must be released before pulling the gun from the fabric. Otherwise, the needle may create a tear in the fabric.
